Thank you to everyone who joined us on 25 March to kick off the 2021 Impact year and shine a light on homelessness and older women, the fastest growing group of homeless people in Australia. We are grateful to Christine McBride, CEO of End Street Sleeping, Debbie Georgopoulos, CEO of Women’s Housing Company, and Suzanne Hopman, CEO of Dignity for sharing their insights on the situation, prevention and solutions, in conversation with Andrew Everingham, IMPACT100 Sydney North board member and Founder of Sydney Homeless Connect.
Against the backdrop of this week’s March 4 Justice, older women’s homelessness reflects deep systemic problems and inequality, including the significant gap in wealth accumulation between men and women across their lifetimes (Older Women’s Risk of Homelessness, Australian Human Rights Commission).
